Google is rolling out its new Search Generative Engine (SGE) to the public in 2024. This will be one of the largest updates Google has released for its search engine in quite some time, and it's bound to affect multiple aspects of digital marketing. While it may end up affecting the ads space, it's expected to have the largest impact on SEO. The below blog from SEO software company Authoritas goes into great detail on what we know so far about SGE and includes predictions from a number of professionals in the industry, including Sean from our team here at Kavanah Media.  For more on this, click the link below: https://www.authoritas.com/blog/predicted-seo-impacts-of-googles-sge-roll-out YouTube Is Quietly Piloting An Ad Buying Program For YouTube Shorts YouTube is somewhat secretly testing new ad-buying options that will allow advertisers to target specifically YouTube shorts, something that is not currently an option. Sources involved in the testing told AdExchanger that those involved in the testing can target ads on Shorts using age, gender, geolocation, and content category. Weekly Marketing Rundown - November 17th, 2023
Weekly Marketing Rundown - November 17th, 2023 Hi everyone, In this week's edition of Kavanah Media's Weekly Marketing Rundown, we'll talk about new developments with the ad-free meta subscription option in the EU, new creative tools for Instagram, and more. Let's dive in.  Ad-Free Meta Products - New Developments The subscription for ad-free Meta products launched last week, giving advertisers a clearer picture of what to expect in some areas, while creating more questions in others. Here are some of the most notable updates regarding this development. - If you are subscribed to ad-free meta products, the pages you are associated with cannot run ads. https://www.facebook.com/business/help/1563729837497242 - Advertisers in some EU locations are already seeing a drop in their target audience size since this release. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/bramvanderhallen_facebookads-digitalmarketing-digitaladvertising-activity-7130841010128973825-ajEn/ https://www.linkedin.com/posts/pascal-blank_meta-dataprivacy-performancemarketing-activity-7130926340987346944-D1TA/ It's still unclear how a lot of this will look long-term. This shift from Meta has appeared to satisfy the EU for now, specifically the talks of booting Meta from the EU altogether. Instagram Launches New Creation Tools for Reels and Stories Meta has unveiled a range of new updates for Instagram creation, including new filters, updated audio elements, improved drafts, and more. New English text-to-speech voices, text fonts, and styles have been added. You can also add clips with audio to Reels via Meta’s GIF “Clip Hub”. Meta’s draft process is getting an update too. It’s also rolling out new photo filters, search tools, and Reels insights. These are the latest updates in Meta’s creation ahead of the holiday rush. For more on this, click the link below: https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/instagram-launches-creation-tools-reels-stories-including-text/699921/ Performance Max Audience Insights Can Now be Filtered by Conversions As of this week, advertisers on the Google Ads platform using Performance Max can now see audience insights filtered by conversion. This is a welcomed addition, as you could previously only segment by clicks and impressions. This data will be very helpful, as you can add the best-performing audiences to your display and demand-gen campaigns as well. The company has also expressed support for federal legislation that would require app stores to enforce age guidelines and obtain parental approval for app downloads for users under the age of 16. Meta's position is based on a recent Pew study, which revealed that 81% of U.S. adults support the idea of requiring parental consent for teens to create social media accounts. It is important to note, however, that such a policy shift would present a challenge for Meta, as it would need to comply with individual state regulations regarding app management. Weekly Marketing Rundown - November 10th, 2023
Weekly Marketing Rundown - November 10th, 2023 Hi everyone, In this week's edition of Kavanah Media's Weekly Marketing Rundown, we'll talk about a new Meta ads format, in-stream chatbot tests on YouTube, and more. Let's dive in.  Meta Announces "Flexible" Ad Format This week, Meta released a new format for ads called flexible. This new creative option allows advertisers to add up to 10 images and videos, giving Meta the option to display the assets in any way it believes will improve performance. As of now, this option is only available with the traffic objective and appears to work with any performance goal within that objective. There is currently no option to customize exactly how each placement will look, meaning square assets are probably best due to their compatibility with carousels.  For more on this, click the link below: https://www.jonloomer.com/optimize-creative-flexible-formats/ YouTube Tests New Generative AI Elements, Including an In-Stream Chatbot YouTube is testing new AI tools, such as topic summaries for comments and its own conversational AI.  The new comments feature will examine comments and create topics around seemingly popular points in the video. For example, if a significant amount of people were writing comments pertaining to a section of a video talking about Kavanah Media, YouTube might create a topic in the comments titled "Kavanah Media" or something very similar.  The new conversational AI tool will allow viewers to ask questions about the video they are watching. Creators will also be able to enter their own prompts to explore certain topics. For more on this, click the link below: https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/youtube-tests-new-generative-ai-elements-including-own-stream-chatbot/698921/ Instagram Will Now Let You Highlight Post Replies in Stories A new Instagram feature allows users to share their favorite comments to Stories, which could lead to more discussions and increased community engagement. This feature offers various ways to boost engagement, such as celebrating the top comments in your replies. Instagram has announced that this new feature is being rolled out to users now. For more on this, click the link below: https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/instagram-will-now-highlight-post-replies-stories/699101/ Additional Meta Ads Updates In addition to the flexible creative format, there are a few more updates that hit Meta ads this week.  When changing the budget on your ad set, you will be able to see how much you can increase the budget without restarting the learning phase.  Meta has also increased their flexibility threshold for how much it can spend over the set daily budget in a given time period. Previously it was 25%, but that number has increased to 75%. If you are on a tight spend budget, use the lifetime budget option for tighter control.  For more on this, click the link below: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/bramvanderhallen_facebookads-digitalmarketing-digitaladvertising-activity-7127561859980746752-CWqs/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios Thanks for reading this edition of Kavanah Media's Weekly Marketing Rundown!
