Fake Claude AI Software Delivers Malware Through Google Ads

Hackers are using deceptive Google search ads to trick people into downloading fake versions of the Claude AI application. These malicious ads lead to professional-looking websites that install dangerous software designed to steal your personal data and passwords.

For Mission Teams

This scam specifically targets digital tools your team might use for content creation and evangelism automation. Using unverified AI software can compromise your ministry's accounts and leak sensitive information about the seekers you are trying to reach. Only download software from trusted sources.

Encrypted RCS Messaging Enhances Cross-Platform Security

Apple and Google have launched a beta for end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging between iPhone and Android users. This update replaces old texting standards with stronger security features designed to keep conversations private from outside parties.

For Mission Teams

While not as widely used by mission teams globally, this rollout could significantly boost security for teams leveraging SMS for team communications. Team members should confirm that the lock icon is visible to ensure discipleship conversations remain confidential and secure from surveillance.

Meta Patches Critical Security Flaws in WhatsApp

Meta recently fixed two major security bugs that could let hackers trick users into opening dangerous files or links. These flaws affected billions of people using WhatsApp on phones and computers, making it easier for scams to look real.

For Mission Teams

Updating your app is vital for security. Maintaining current software protects your team's digital identity and the security of seekers you contact through the platform.

Meta Introduces AI Tools for Business Messaging on Messenger

Meta is launching new AI features to help organizations automate conversations and respond to inquiries more efficiently. These tools allow for personalized interactions and faster support by using artificial intelligence to handle common questions.

For Mission Teams

Members of the Kavanah team have not yet begun experimenting with this tool. There are legitimate concerns surrounding AI hallucinations and the ability of automated systems to facilitate authentic, gospel-centered conversations. However, as Meta continues refining the platform, it may become a viable alternative to chatbot tools such as ManyChat. Keeping these systems within Meta’s ecosystem could also offer advantages in scalability, integration, and overall cost efficiency.

Self-Serve ChatGPT Ads Beta Launches for Advertisers

OpenAI has launched a self-serve Ads Manager beta, allowing U.S.-based businesses to create and manage advertisements directly within ChatGPT. The platform includes basic campaign management tools such as budget controls and cost-per-click (CPC) bidding, with sponsored content appearing contextually within AI conversations.

For Mission Teams

Although the platform is still in beta and currently limited to U.S.-based advertisers, it may represent a significant new opportunity for digital engagement. Context-based ad placement could allow teams to reach seekers during relevant spiritual, emotional, or life-stage conversations in a more natural way than traditional social advertising.

At the same time, these tools remain very early-stage. Teams should approach experimentation carefully, particularly since conversion tracking and long-term performance data are still limited. Close monitoring will be important as the platform evolves.

Kavanah Media has applied for access to the platform and is currently awaiting approval.

Google Ads Mandates Passkeys for Sensitive Actions

Starting July 15, 2026, Google Ads will require passkeys for high-risk actions such as modifying billing or changing user permissions. These cryptographic credentials use device-level biometrics or PINs to replace traditional passwords and provide stronger protection against phishing and account takeovers.

For Mission Teams

Implementing passkeys protects your ministry's ad account. Teams should set up passkeys now to avoid a seven-day security delay that could block urgent campaign adjustments after the July deadline.

Google Tag Manager Evolves into Google Tags

At Google Marketing Live 2026, Google announced that GTM containers can now be upgraded to "Google Tags" to streamline tracking. This optional update introduces "Destinations," allowing teams to manage multiple platform settings from a single central location without loading redundant code.

For Mission Teams

The new visual event builder makes it easier for non-technical team members to track seeker interactions on landing pages without complex coding. Centralizing destinations improves website performance and security, ensuring that sensitive data is handled consistently across all evangelism campaigns.

TikTok Launches Ad-Free Subscription in the UK

TikTok now allows users in the United Kingdom to pay a monthly subscription fee for an ad-free experience on the platform. This move follows a broader trend among social media companies, including Meta, toward offering paid versions of their apps with reduced or removed advertising.

For Mission Teams

While TikTok has traditionally been more difficult to use for paid evangelism advertising due to religious content restrictions, it tends to offer higher engagement rates — often at a premium cost. Teams running campaigns in the UK should also account for a reduced addressable audience, as a portion of users opt out of sponsored content entirely.

Disney Expands Short-Form Video and Creator Partnerships

Disney is launching a new vertical video feed called Verts to share short clips and creator content. This move aims to connect with younger audiences who prefer quick and interactive videos over traditional formats.

For Mission Teams

While not directly related to digital engagement platforms, Disney’s latest move highlights the growing importance of short-form, Reels-style video content across the broader media landscape. Mission teams should continue prioritizing these formats to maximize visibility and engagement across major social platforms.

WhatsApp Adds Incognito AI for Private Messaging

WhatsApp now offers a private way to talk to AI where your messages disappear and leave no history. Meta claims their new system keeps these conversations secret even from the company itself.

For Mission Teams

This update could provide a more private environment for seekers to ask sensitive questions about faith without generating a highly visible digital trail. Mission teams may benefit by ensuring their websites and content are optimized for AI discovery and indexing. At the same time, teams should remain cautious about the information they share with AI agents themselves. Although Meta states that it cannot view certain protected data, privacy and security risks still remain.

Weekly Marketing Rundown - June 5, 2026
Weekly Marketing Rundown - June 5, 2026 Welcome to this week’s edition of Kavanah Media’s Weekly Marketing Rundown! We’re diving into the latest updates you need to know including Meta's new Paid Subscriptions for it's platforms, Google's work to add a CRM to Google Ads, one final update regarding Instagram's message encryption, and more. Enjoying the Weekly Marketing Rundown? Support our work and keep it free for missions teams worldwide: https://www.kavanahmedia.com/donatetoKM Meta Launches Paid Subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp Meta launched paid subscription plans for its flagship apps on May 27, 2026, with Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus, and WhatsApp Plus rolling out globally. The subscriptions unlock additional features, including enhanced analytics and expanded audience reach. The move comes as Meta faces increased investor scrutiny over its substantial AI investments and seeks to diversify its revenue streams beyond advertising. For Mission Teams Paid subscription tiers that offer expanded audience reach and enhanced analytics could provide business pages with a meaningful boost in visibility, along with improved tools for content creation and management. It is reasonable to assume that mission teams may experience similar benefits. However, teams should carefully evaluate the costs and test the platform's functionality before incorporating it into their digital engagement strategies. https://finance.yahoo.com/sectors/technology/articles/meta-launches-paid-subscriptions-instagram-212733317.html Instagram Ends End-to-End Encrypted Messaging Instagram removed end-to-end encryption for direct messages between users starting May 8, 2026, meaning Meta can now potentially see the contents of all messages on the platform. Encrypting messages had been an optional feature in Instagram since 2023, but the platform quietly updated its help page to announce the feature would no longer be available. For Mission Teams Ministry teams using Instagram DMs for sensitive conversations with seekers, new believers, or contacts in restricted-access countries should be aware that those messages are no longer private from Meta. For confidential outreach, switching to WhatsApp or Signal, both of which still offer strong encryption, is strongly recommended. https://www.macrumors.com/2026/05/05/psa-instagram-encrypted-messaging-ends-may-8/ EU Fines Meta Up to $12 Billion Over Children's Safety Failures on Instagram and Facebook On April 29, 2026, the European Commission announced preliminary findings that Meta’s Instagram and Facebook platforms may be in breach of the Digital Services Act for failing to adequately prevent children under 13 from accessing their services. The Commission noted that children can enter false birth dates without verification and that certain reporting tools require up to seven clicks to access. If these preliminary findings are confirmed, Meta could face fines of up to 6 percent of its total worldwide annual turnover, which could amount to as much as $12 billion. For Mission Teams This story is a reminder that digital platforms are beholden to state actors and laws. These tools can change at any time. Teams should review their own platforms and plan for redundancy. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/0001326801/000121465926006412/o514269px14a6g.htm Apple Tests New iPhone Anti-Theft Security Feature Apple is testing a new safety feature that automatically locks an iPhone if someone steals it from your hand. It uses motion sensors and location checks to quickly protect your personal information from thieves. For Mission Teams This feature improves physical and digital security for ministries running digital engagement projects in secure fields. Automatically locking a snatched device prevents criminals from accessing sensitive disciple-making apps and communication channels. https://www.techrepublic.com/article/news-apple-iphone-anti-snatching-lock-feature/ Google Is Upgrading All Dynamic Search Ads to AI Max This September Google announced that AI Max for Search campaigns is moving out of beta, and that campaigns using AI Max see an average of 7 percent more conversions or conversion value at a similar cost per acquisition when using the full feature suite compared to using search term matching alone. Starting in September, campaigns using Dynamic Search Ads, automatically created assets, and campaign-level broad match settings will automatically be upgraded to AI Max. For Mission Teams If your ministry uses Google Search ads to connect with people seeking faith-related content, this change is approaching quickly. Teams should review their account settings and prepare their campaigns for the automatic upgrade to help ensure a smooth transition and avoid disruptions to ongoing outreach efforts. https://blog.google/products/ads-commerce/dsa-upgrade-to-ai-max-2026/ TikTok Is Quietly Becoming a Super App TikTok launched TikTok GO earlier in May, allowing users to discover and book hotels, attractions, tours, and other experiences directly within the app. The company is also reportedly pursuing a fintech license as it continues expanding its ecosystem and moving more transactions onto the platform. Rather than directing users to third-party websites, TikTok is increasingly positioning itself as a one-stop platform for discovery, decision-making, and transactions. While many users already rely on TikTok as a search tool and, in some cases, an alternative to Google, this latest move places the platform in more direct competition with Google's core Search and Maps businesses. For Mission Teams TikTok’s expansion into travel, shopping, and potentially financial services means more people, especially younger audiences, are spending increasing amounts of time inside the app each day. This presents a growing opportunity for ministries to reach people where they already are, but it also requires a clear, consistent TikTok presence and strategy to remain visible within a rapidly expanding ecosystem. It should be noted, however, that there are significant concerns around scalability, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance when leveraging TikTok for digital engagement. Some teams have experienced ad account restrictions related to religious content, while others have seen success. It is also recommended that TikTok, or any other apps owned by its parent company ByteDance, be installed on separate devices due to these security considerations and broader concerns about data governance. https://techcrunch.com/2026/05/30/tiktoks-road-to-becoming-a-super-app/ Meta Ads Manager Introduces New Campaign Grouping Feature Meta Ads Manager is testing a new Grouping tool that lets advertisers organize campaigns by similar settings or goals. This feature clumps similar choices together to make your advertising reports much easier to read. For Mission Teams This tool improves strategic application by grouping ads to see which funnel stages drive the highest digital engagement with seekers. It also could simplify data management, reducing the security risk of exposing detailed ministry strategies when sharing reports. https://www.jonloomer.com/meta-ads-grouping-reports-chatgpt-conversions/ OpenAI Ads Manager Beta and ChatGPT Updates OpenAI has added several new budgeting and targeting tools to its advertising platform. They are also testing grouped ad placements inside ChatGPT to help advertisers connect with interested users. For Mission Teams These updates let ministries safely control daily ad spending while scaling outreach to seekers in new countries. Displaying ads inside active AI conversations offers a strategic new way to build digital engagement. https://ads.openai.com Google Ads Limits Historical Reporting Data Access Starting June 1, 2026, Google Ads will automatically delete detailed hourly, daily, and weekly performance data that is more than 37 months old. Advertisers must manually export and save this granular tracking information if they want to keep it for long-term campaign planning. For Mission Teams Ministries leveraging those data points must proactively archive their detailed ad history to protect valuable strategic insights regarding seeker engagement and digital outreach patterns. https://www.seroundtable.com/google-ads-delete-performance-data-41403.html Google Ads Enhances Lead Tracking and Ad Approval Speed Google Ads added a built-in dashboard to track and organize new leads directly inside the platform, similar to a CRM. It also introduced real-time policy reviews to instantly approve search ads during creation. For Mission Teams This centralized dashboard helps ministry teams securely monitor seeker engagement and train AI to find high-intent contacts. Quick ad approvals also allow strategic outreach campaigns to launch immediately without frustrating delays. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/google-ads-news-week-22-adriaan-dekker-bl6me/ WhatsApp Develops On-Device Scam Alert Feature WhatsApp is creating a new feature that warns users when they receive suspicious messages from unknown accounts. This safety tool checks messages directly on your phone so private conversations stay completely encrypted. For Mission Teams This feature allows users, including mission teams, to spot fraudulent contacts without exposing private conversations with seekers. Strategically training your team to enable this setting protects your disciple-making network from malicious phishing attempts. https://www.androidpolice.com/scam-detection-but-on-whatsapp Stay Equipped for Digital Engagement  Looking for ways to use digital tools to grow evangelism and disciple-making? Weekly Marketing Rundown - October 17, 2025
Weekly Marketing Rundown - October 17, 2025 Welcome to this week’s edition of Kavanah Media’s Weekly Marketing Rundown! In this issue, we explore the podcasts on Netflix, Meta data on Google ads, Buffer's advice for TikTok, and more. Enjoying the Weekly Marketing Rundown? Support our work and keep it free for missions teams worldwide: https://www.kavanahmedia.com/donatetoKM Meta Import in Google Ads Google has launched a new beta feature that lets marketers import Meta ad data directly into Google Analytics 4 (GA4). This means you can now see how your Facebook and Instagram ads are performing inside GA4, alongside your other marketing channels.  For Missions Teams: This could make tracking ad performance across platforms much simpler. Instead of switching between Meta and Google tools, you can now analyze everything in one place. Further testing is recommended. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/google-ads-news-week-41-adriaan-dekker-vqpve/  (further down in the newsletter) California Proposes Health Warning Labels for Social Media California lawmakers are pushing a new bill that would require health warning labels on social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. The labels would warn users—especially teens—about the mental health risks linked to heavy social media use. If passed, the law would be the first of its kind in the U.S., and platforms could face fines for not complying. For Mission Teams: This has the potential to impact campaign strategies and engagement rates, especially if governmental bodies around the world begin adopting similar policies. As social media companies respond to these regulations, teams should monitor how these changes may affect their efforts and be prepared to pivot as necessary. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/13/california-health-warning-labels-social-media-00606066 Reveal Details Over Time in Meta Ads Jon Loomer explains how to use Meta's new Reveal Features Over Time Advantage+ Enhancement to slowly reveal information to your audience over time. Instead of showing everything in one ad, you can set up a series of ads that unlock new details based on how people interact with them. This keeps users curious and encourages them to stay engaged longer. For Mission Teams: Currently this feature is only live for products under sales and app campaigns, but teams offering Bible sales or apps can use this strategy to build interest. There is a possibility Meta may roll out this feature to other ad campaign objectives. https://www.jonloomer.com/qvt/reveal-details-over-time/ How Often Should You Post on TikTok? Data From 11 Million+ Posts Buffer analyzed 11.4 million TikTok posts and found that creators who post 2–5 times per week get 17% more views. Posting 11+ times weekly increases the chance of going viral by 31x, but the extra effort doesn’t guarantee every post will perform better—just that one might break through, especially for the top 10% of creators. Whether you have 500 or 50,000 followers, posting more often improves your odds of success. For Mission Teams: For teams utilizing TikTok in their digital strategies this means consistency and volume matter when planning TikTok content. https://buffer.com/resources/how-often-should-you-post-on-tiktok/ Instagram Now Lets You Edit Your Reels Algorithm—But Will You Bother? Instagram has launched a new tool called “Your Algorithm,” that lets users control what shows up in their Reels feed. You can now add or remove interest categories, tap on topics to see sample videos, and adjust your preferences. It’s a way for Meta to say users have more control—even though most people probably won’t use it. For Mission Teams: Users might start shaping their own content experience more directly. That could affect how often your content appears, especially if it doesn’t match selected interests. It is not known if and how this will affect paid ads. https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/instagram-rolls-out-reels-topic-algorithm-control-option/802426/ Signal’s Post-Quantum Makeover Is a Big Deal Signal has upgraded its messaging app to protect against future quantum computers that could break current encryption. The team has detailed how they made their protocol "quantum-resistant," ensuring security even as quantum technology advances. For Mission Teams: This matters because secure communication is key—especially when handling sensitive data or working in regions with privacy concerns. Leveraging Signal for internal and secure chats is now more secure than ever. https://arstechnica.com/security/2025/10/why-signals-post-quantum-makeover-is-an-amazing-engineering-achievement/ Facebook Adds Local Job Listings to Marketplace Facebook has launched a new feature in the U.S. that helps people find entry-level, trade, and service jobs in their local communities. Job listings now appear in a dedicated tab on Facebook Marketplace, and employers can post openings through their Page, a Group, or directly in Marketplace. This makes it easier for small businesses and job seekers to connect without leaving the app. For Mission Teams: The saying "Only older people use Facebook," is no longer true. Facebooks' user base has consistently grown globally and features such as Dating and Job Listings are seeing adoption even among younger generations. Facebook should not be overlooked by teams considering which platforms to utilize in their digital engagement strategies. https://about.fb.com/news/2025/10/introducing-local-jobs-facebook/ Netflix Adds Video Podcasts to Its Platform Netflix is starting to offer video podcasts, which means you’ll be able to watch interviews, discussions, and behind-the-scenes content from creators and celebrities right on the app. These shows will appear alongside regular movies and series, giving users more ways to stay entertained without switching platforms. For Mission Teams: Podcasts are increasingly popular, and this trend is expected to persist worldwide. Integrating podcasts into digital engagement strategies could be a valuable consideration. https://9to5mac.com/2025/10/14/netflix-is-adding-video-podcasts-marking-a-new-chapter-for-podcasting/ Stay Equipped for Digital Engagement At Kavanah Media, we’re committed to helping mission teams use digital tools to make God known around the world.
