Fake Claude AI Software Delivers Malware Through Google Ads

Hackers are using deceptive Google search ads to trick people into downloading fake versions of the Claude AI application. These malicious ads lead to professional-looking websites that install dangerous software designed to steal your personal data and passwords.

For Mission Teams

This scam specifically targets digital tools your team might use for content creation and evangelism automation. Using unverified AI software can compromise your ministry's accounts and leak sensitive information about the seekers you are trying to reach. Only download software from trusted sources.

Encrypted RCS Messaging Enhances Cross-Platform Security

Apple and Google have launched a beta for end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging between iPhone and Android users. This update replaces old texting standards with stronger security features designed to keep conversations private from outside parties.

For Mission Teams

While not as widely used by mission teams globally, this rollout could significantly boost security for teams leveraging SMS for team communications. Team members should confirm that the lock icon is visible to ensure discipleship conversations remain confidential and secure from surveillance.

Meta Patches Critical Security Flaws in WhatsApp

Meta recently fixed two major security bugs that could let hackers trick users into opening dangerous files or links. These flaws affected billions of people using WhatsApp on phones and computers, making it easier for scams to look real.

For Mission Teams

Updating your app is vital for security. Maintaining current software protects your team's digital identity and the security of seekers you contact through the platform.

Meta Introduces AI Tools for Business Messaging on Messenger

Meta is launching new AI features to help organizations automate conversations and respond to inquiries more efficiently. These tools allow for personalized interactions and faster support by using artificial intelligence to handle common questions.

For Mission Teams

Members of the Kavanah team have not yet begun experimenting with this tool. There are legitimate concerns surrounding AI hallucinations and the ability of automated systems to facilitate authentic, gospel-centered conversations. However, as Meta continues refining the platform, it may become a viable alternative to chatbot tools such as ManyChat. Keeping these systems within Meta’s ecosystem could also offer advantages in scalability, integration, and overall cost efficiency.

Self-Serve ChatGPT Ads Beta Launches for Advertisers

OpenAI has launched a self-serve Ads Manager beta, allowing U.S.-based businesses to create and manage advertisements directly within ChatGPT. The platform includes basic campaign management tools such as budget controls and cost-per-click (CPC) bidding, with sponsored content appearing contextually within AI conversations.

For Mission Teams

Although the platform is still in beta and currently limited to U.S.-based advertisers, it may represent a significant new opportunity for digital engagement. Context-based ad placement could allow teams to reach seekers during relevant spiritual, emotional, or life-stage conversations in a more natural way than traditional social advertising.

At the same time, these tools remain very early-stage. Teams should approach experimentation carefully, particularly since conversion tracking and long-term performance data are still limited. Close monitoring will be important as the platform evolves.

Kavanah Media has applied for access to the platform and is currently awaiting approval.

Google Ads Mandates Passkeys for Sensitive Actions

Starting July 15, 2026, Google Ads will require passkeys for high-risk actions such as modifying billing or changing user permissions. These cryptographic credentials use device-level biometrics or PINs to replace traditional passwords and provide stronger protection against phishing and account takeovers.

For Mission Teams

Implementing passkeys protects your ministry's ad account. Teams should set up passkeys now to avoid a seven-day security delay that could block urgent campaign adjustments after the July deadline.

Google Tag Manager Evolves into Google Tags

At Google Marketing Live 2026, Google announced that GTM containers can now be upgraded to "Google Tags" to streamline tracking. This optional update introduces "Destinations," allowing teams to manage multiple platform settings from a single central location without loading redundant code.

For Mission Teams

The new visual event builder makes it easier for non-technical team members to track seeker interactions on landing pages without complex coding. Centralizing destinations improves website performance and security, ensuring that sensitive data is handled consistently across all evangelism campaigns.

TikTok Launches Ad-Free Subscription in the UK

TikTok now allows users in the United Kingdom to pay a monthly subscription fee for an ad-free experience on the platform. This move follows a broader trend among social media companies, including Meta, toward offering paid versions of their apps with reduced or removed advertising.

For Mission Teams

While TikTok has traditionally been more difficult to use for paid evangelism advertising due to religious content restrictions, it tends to offer higher engagement rates — often at a premium cost. Teams running campaigns in the UK should also account for a reduced addressable audience, as a portion of users opt out of sponsored content entirely.

Disney Expands Short-Form Video and Creator Partnerships

Disney is launching a new vertical video feed called Verts to share short clips and creator content. This move aims to connect with younger audiences who prefer quick and interactive videos over traditional formats.

For Mission Teams

While not directly related to digital engagement platforms, Disney’s latest move highlights the growing importance of short-form, Reels-style video content across the broader media landscape. Mission teams should continue prioritizing these formats to maximize visibility and engagement across major social platforms.

WhatsApp Adds Incognito AI for Private Messaging

WhatsApp now offers a private way to talk to AI where your messages disappear and leave no history. Meta claims their new system keeps these conversations secret even from the company itself.

For Mission Teams

This update could provide a more private environment for seekers to ask sensitive questions about faith without generating a highly visible digital trail. Mission teams may benefit by ensuring their websites and content are optimized for AI discovery and indexing. At the same time, teams should remain cautious about the information they share with AI agents themselves. Although Meta states that it cannot view certain protected data, privacy and security risks still remain.

Weekly Marketing Rundown - July 17, 2026
Weekly Marketing Rundown - July 17, 2026 Welcome to this week’s edition of Kavanah Media’s Weekly Marketing Rundown! We're diving into the latest updates you need to know, including African device manufacturers reportedly sending data to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), rising advertising costs in the MENA region, Meta shutting down its new Instagram AI content creation tool, and more. Enjoying the Weekly Marketing Rundown? Support our work and keep it free for missions teams worldwide: https://www.kavanahmedia.com/donatetoKM Budget Android phones silently send data to China Security researchers at NowSecure published findings showing that Transsion phones, which dominate markets across Africa and South Asia, contain a system-level component that cannot be removed and that secretly transmits users' precise location, per-app network usage, foreground app activity, and camera usage to servers linked to the manufacturer. The encrypted data includes persistent device identifiers that enable ongoing tracking of individual users. For Mission Teams Many ministry partners and church members in the Global South use Transsion devices including Tecno, Infinix, and itel brands, meaning sensitive communication and donor data may be exposed without their knowledge. Teams should consider purchasing devices from trusted sources and brands. https://www.nowsecure.com/blog/2026/07/08/what-the-transsion-telemetry-research-means-for-mobile-security/ Rising advertising costs in the Middle East Recently, a mission team that Kavanah Media works with on a digital engagement project in the MENA region experienced rising Meta advertising costs. The increase appeared to be greater than what would typically be expected from the challenges associated with Advantage+ Audience. As it turns out, the trend can be explained, at least in part, by rising advertising costs across the region. Companies are spending significantly more on digital advertising throughout the Middle East and North Africa. This increased demand has driven up the cost of advertising on social media platforms. It should be noted that this trend is also being observed globally and is not unique to the MENA region. For Mission Teams Teams using Meta Ads in the MENA region should expect rising advertising costs. These challenges can be mitigated by increasing advertising budgets, diversifying creative assets, and enabling Advantage+ Creative tools. https://23hublab.com/how-rising-cpms-are-reshaping-gulf-ad-strategy/ To see the 2026 CPM benchmarks by country, check out the link below: https://adligator.com/blog/meta-ads-cpm-by-country-benchmarks New AI ad creation tools in ChatGPT OpenAI is testing a new tool that automatically writes ads based on your website details and settings. This makes starting campaigns much faster, but you still need to check the ads to make sure they are correct. For Mission Teams This new tool can help you quickly create ads to find more genuine seekers online. You must carefully review these automated ads to keep your team secure and ensure they match your disciple-making strategies. https://searchengineland.com/openai-can-generate-chatgpt-ads-for-you-481651 Meta AI writing tool in Business Manager Members of the Kavanah Media team noticed a new Meta AI integration in the Content section of Meta Business Manager. Just below the text box is a new "Write with AI" button. Social media managers can now use AI to help draft copy directly within the platform when creating content. For Mission Teams Mission teams can leverage this tool to help draft, edit, or diversify text copies for faster organic posting. Marketers should check the Content section of Business Manager to see if the update has been rolled out to their accounts. As with all AI tools, outputs should be verified before publishing. Meta kills Instagram AI photo remix feature Meta launched a new AI image tool called Muse Image that allowed anyone to generate images using public Instagram profiles without notifying account owners. After three days of intense backlash from users, talent agencies, and SAG-AFTRA, Meta removed the feature and acknowledged that it had missed the mark. For Mission Teams This story highlights how quickly AI tools can violate personal dignity and consent, which matters deeply for ministry contexts where image and identity are sacred. Teams should monitor how platforms handle opt-in versus opt-out defaults, especially when member photos or ministry content could be scraped without permission. https://www.dailywire.com/news/meta-removes-concerning-instagram-ai-feature-after-severe-backlash Google Ads AI image enhancements Google uses smart AI tools to instantly modify images by adding text, adjusting sizes, or creating animations. These updates help your digital ads capture more attention without requiring additional design work. For Mission Teams This tools makes it easier than every to create additional ad copy. Teams can leverage this to help with creative diversity. As with all AI tools, outputs should be verified before publishing. https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/16483726 Meta adds AI lead capture agent to instant forms Meta is testing a new feature inside lead ad instant forms that activates an AI agent to guide users through a conversational flow to collect their information. The AI decides whether to show the standard form or initiate a chat, pulling from the advertiser's website and form to answer questions about the business. For Mission Teams This tool could help ministry outreach teams collect leads more efficiently through conversational AI, but it raises questions about how accurately the agent represents your organization's message. Teams should test what the AI says when asked theological or sensitive questions about your ministry before enabling it. https://www.jonloomer.com/lead-capture-ai-agent-instant-forms/ Google Ads now labels AI-generated ad creatives Starting in July 2026, Google Ads will allow advertisers to add text or visual labels to image and video ad creatives that were generated or modified using AI, helping them comply with emerging AI transparency regulations in the EU, India, and New York. Google Ads may also automatically apply these labels to assets created using its own AI tools. For Mission Teams Ministry advertisers running AI-generated image or video ads in regulated markets such as Europe must now ensure their creatives carry proper AI disclosure labels or risk policy violations. This is also an opportunity to build audience trust by being transparent about which communications are AI-assisted versus human-created. https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/16483726 ChatGPT ads gain location and audience controls OpenAI has added location exclusions and custom audience targeting features to its ChatGPT advertising platform. Advertisers can now upload email lists to target or exclude specific groups of users. For Mission Teams These advanced controls make AI chatbot advertising a more viable tool for localized digital outreach. However, a high minimum number of contacts may limit smaller ministry teams from adopting the feature immediately. https://www.jonloomer.com/blog/ TikTok mandates commercial content disclosure rules TikTok has updated its guidelines to require clear labels on all promotional and branded video content, as well as AI-generated or deepfake videos. Posts that fail to use the built-in disclosure toggle may be restricted or removed from user feeds. For Mission Teams Even non-profit or ministry-boosted posts might fall under these strict definition guidelines on TikTok. Make sure to toggle the disclosure switch on sponsored content to maintain your account's visibility and reach. https://www.darkroomagency.com/observatory/what-brands-need-to-know-about-tiktok-new-rules-2026 Stay Equipped for Digital Engagement  Looking for ways to use digital tools to grow evangelism and disciple-making? Weekly Marketing Rundown - June 12, 2026
Weekly Marketing Rundown - June 12, 2026 Welcome to this week’s edition of Kavanah Media’s Weekly Marketing Rundown! We’re diving into the latest updates you need to know including a massive Microsoft Patch Tuesday with three zero-day vulnerabilities, sweeping changes to Google Ads tracking, new guidance on Google's Personalized advertising policy, and new AI-powered tools arriving across TikTok and Facebook that mission teams need to understand. Enjoying the Weekly Marketing Rundown? Support our work and keep it free for missions teams worldwide: https://www.kavanahmedia.com/donatetoKM Meta Adds Incognito Mode to WhatsApp's Meta AI Chatbot Meta is adding the ability for WhatsApp users to start private, off-the-record conversations with its built-in Meta AI assistant. These incognito sessions will not be tied to a user's account history or conversation logs. For Mission Teams This feature could increase willingness among seekers in sensitive regions to ask spiritual questions through WhatsApp AI without fear of it being recorded. Teams building WhatsApp-based outreach funnels should familiarize themselves with how Meta AI responds to faith-related prompts. https://about.fb.com/news/2026/05/incognito-chat-whatsapp-meta-ai/ TikTok Adds Seedance 2.0 AI Video Model to Ad Suite TikTok has integrated ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 AI video generation model into its TikTok Symphony advertising toolkit, allowing advertisers to produce AI-generated video content directly within the platform. The tool can generate clips from text descriptions or reference images. For Mission Teams This lowers the barrier for producing video ad content, which could benefit teams with limited production budgets. Because TikTok is owned by ByteDance, teams should continue using it only on dedicated devices that do not contain sensitive ministry contacts or communications. https://socialbee.com/blog/tiktok-updates/ TikTok Expands Advertiser Reach Through Vistar Media Partnership TikTok has partnered with Vistar Media to extend advertiser placements to over one million locations beyond the app itself. This means TikTok-based campaigns can now appear across a much broader digital out-of-home and programmatic network. For Mission Teams This expansion could increase the visibility of gospel-focused content beyond TikTok's in-app audience, reaching people in public spaces and third-party digital environments. Teams should weigh whether the broader reach justifies the added cost and reduced audience targeting precision. https://www.socialmediatoday.com/topic/tiktok/ Google Ads Removes Manual Override for Consent and Tracking on June 15 Starting June 15, 2026, Google is removing the ability for Google Analytics settings to override Google Ads data collection behavior. If a website's consent banner is not correctly configured by that date, ad reporting, audience building, and return-on-ad-spend measurement could all be affected without any dashboard warning. For Mission Teams Teams running Google Ads campaigns with consent banners on their ministry websites need to verify their tracking setup before June 15. Misconfigurations could result in lost audience data and inaccurate reporting that silently undermines campaign performance. https://www.thedrum.com/profile/launch-online/article/how-google-s-june-2026-change-could-silently-kill-your-ad-tracking-and-what-to-do-about-i-1 Microsoft Patches 206 Vulnerabilities in June 2026 Patch Tuesday, Including Three Zero-Days Microsoft released its June 2026 security updates covering 206 vulnerabilities across Windows, Office, and other products. Three of these were publicly disclosed zero-days, and the update includes fixes for 37 critical-severity issues spanning remote code execution, privilege escalation, and information disclosure. For Mission Teams Teams managing Windows devices for field staff or administrative work should apply these updates immediately, particularly given the active exploitation of several disclosed vulnerabilities. Delaying patches on devices that handle sensitive ministry data or communications creates unnecessary risk. https://www.crowdstrike.com/en-us/blog/patch-tuesday-analysis-june-2026/ Hateful Comments on Facebook Have Quadrupled Since 2025 Facebook Hateful Comments Have Quadrupled Since 2025 A new report from the Center for Countering Digital Hate released June 10, 2026, found that hateful comments on Facebook against US congress members have quadrupled since 20250 when Meta rolled back moderation policies. For Mission Teams While the study focuses primarily on political comments in Western contexts, Meta's rollback of moderation tools could contribute to similar increases in hateful comments worldwide- even in the context of digital engagement. Teams should be prepared to ramp up their own comment moderation efforts and consider enabling automatic filters for harmful language. https://counterhate.com/blog/violent-threats-against-members-of-congress-quadrupled-after-meta-rolled-back-moderation-policies/ Google Updates Advertising Rules for Sensitive Topics Google updated its rules to explain how ads reach people when promoting sensitive topics like health or personal problems. This update does not add new rules, but it explains why some ads might reach fewer people than expected. For Mission Teams If your digital engagement strategy is leveraging Google ads, you likely fall under the Religious Beliefs Policy. Your strategies, content, and ads must comply. Click the second link for more information regarding each policy, possible restrictions, details, and mitigation options. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/google-ads-news-week-23-adriaan-dekker-5rfle/ https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/143465?hl=en Yoast AI Content Planner Automates Blog Post Drafts Yoast recently launched an artificial intelligence tool that scans your website to suggest five structured ideas for your next post. This helpful feature saves time and prevents writer's block by automatically building ready-to-write drafts with titles, headings, and notes. For Mission Teams This tool can boost your digital strategy for finding seekers by quickly generating engaging articles that answer common spiritual questions. However, you must carefully review these automated drafts for any sensitive words to maintain strict security while safely making disciples online. https://yoast.com/features/content-planner/ Meta's New Push Delivery Feature Guarantees Ad Views Meta added a new advertising tool that lets you force their system to show a specific ad instead of skipping it. This update gives you direct control over your daily budget to make sure your most important messages are actually seen. For Mission Teams This tool guarantees your digital evangelism ads reach new seekers even when standard social media algorithms try to ignore them. By forcing delivery on specific ads, you can securely test new strategies for making disciples while carefully monitoring audience engagement. https://www.jonloomer.com/hands-on-push-delivery-to-this-ad/ Meta Launches AI Business Agent Globally on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger Meta announced the global availability of its Meta Business Agent on June 3, 2026, at the company's Conversations conference in London. The platform enables businesses of any size to deploy AI-powered agents across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger. These agents are designed to manage customer conversations, qualify leads, and support sales processes with minimal human involvement. The agent's capabilities include fielding customer inquiries, suggesting products from a catalog, scheduling appointments, vetting sales leads, and completing transactions, with a handoff mechanism that lets the agent escalate to a live employee once conversations reach a point that the owner defines. For Mission Teams According to Meta, businesses are already using a Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp and Messenger to respond to customers. It is yet to be extensively tested in a mission digital engagement strategy context, but there is potential it could prove very beneficial. Members of the Kavanah Media team hope to begin testing shortly. Teams are encouraged to test the tool cautiously, as AI can, and still does, hallu https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/03/metas-ai-agent-for-whatsapp-business-is-now-available-globally/ Instagram Hack Highlights AI Security Risks Hackers tricked a new artificial intelligence tool to steal thousands of important Instagram accounts by changing their private email addresses. Even though personal information was stolen, the company plans to fix the mistake without slowing down their new technology. For Mission Teams This security failure shows why your team must carefully protect the social media accounts you use to find seekers online. You must secure your digital evangelism profiles with strong passwords and extra safety steps to safely continue making disciples without losing access to your audience. It also shows how bad actors are leveraging AI to exploit weaknesses at unprecedented levels, and how those same AI tools introduce vulnerabilities. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/09/technology/instagram-hack-ai-bug.html Stay Equipped for Digital Engagement  Looking for ways to use digital tools to grow evangelism and disciple-making?
